Guitar and Voice Lessons – South Jersey

Are you interested in guitar or vocal lessons? I have 20+ years of both teaching and performance experience and have taught hundreds of people, from Beginner through Advanced levels, children-adults. I was previously a Music Director at the acclaimed School of Rock and won the coveted Top 40 Under 40 Award in 2013 by Atlantic City Weekly. I’m also endorsed by Hughes & Kettner Amps, D’Addario, Jerry Harvey Audio, and Tom Anderson Guitars.

I’m currently accepting new students, ages 12 and up!

Here at my home studio in EHT we can work on both guitar or voice, (or both), which includes but is not limited to:

  • proper technique and stamina
  • expanding your range
  • styles
  • developing vibrato
  • songwriting and arranging
  • ear training
  • stage presence
  • chordal and scale theory
  • recording techniques
  • soloing and improvisation
  • chord changes and rhythm playing
  • learning your favorite songs
  • singing and playing guitar at the same time
  • and much more!
Vocal students will have their lessons recorded each week for your convenience and uploaded to your personal Dropbox folder for 24/7 access. You can easily practice and listen to your improvement over time. Guitar students also have their own personal Dropbox folders with lessons, backing tracks, charts, excerpts from songs, and more.

1hr classes are $75 and can be taken weekly or every other week on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursdays between 2p-6p. New students are accepted on the premise that they are willing to sign up for at least 3 months of classes in order for real progress to be achieved together.

If you are interested in enrolling, please email me at dan@danjost.com.

Dan is awesome. His lessons are tailored and not just some cookie cutter plan. He also makes himself available between lessons for questions about the lesson and will even make videos to help explain. Highly recommend this man!

Taking lessons from Dan has greatly and positively improved not only my guitar playing skills, but has also helped boost my confidence with my instrument and has helped me play local gigs! Dan focuses on what is pertinent to you and doesn’t waste time, id recommend him to any student looking for a teacher!

Lessons with Dan Jost are top notch. Dan is patient, attentive, and knowledgeable. He tailors lessons around what you want, not the other way around. Lessons are structured, engaging, and insightful. I personally went for Vocals and I am a compete novice. After just 2 lessons, I was already improving and I was singing and writing music that was my style on top of it. Working with Dan is a lot of fun and super valuable, I would highly recommend giving it a try.

Dan was a great instructor for my teenage son. Providing solid lessons in technique and skill building exercises as well as an understanding that my son wanted to play songs he knew and loved, Dan worked with him to get him excited about learning to play the guitar. I highly recommend Dan.

Dan is a wonderful guitar teacher. I've enjoyed taking lessons in his professional studio, where he has access to all kinds of resources to aid in your learning. He is patient, kind, and very knowledgeable. A talented singer and guitarist himself, it's enjoyable to listen to him and fun to accompany him on guitar. He not only teaches you how to play but also the theory behind the musical scales and how they relate to the instrument. He allows you to pick your own music, so you're playing what you want to play, not what someone else wants you to play. I feel lucky to have the chance to learn from Dan, who really loves the art of guitar playing, and there's no better teacher than one who is passionate about what he or she is teaching.

“When my son told me he wanted to start taking guitar lessons, I had no idea where to go. I looked up local guitar lessons and Dan Jost’s name came up. Did a little research and after reading the reviews, I decided to give Dan a call. My son was not going to be your typical music student. He is hearing impaired so I knew whoever he was going to use was going to need to work a little harder with him. After my conversation with Dan, I knew that this would be an excellent fit. Not only is he extremely talented, but he is caring, patient, professional and inspiring. My son left his lessons with a huge smile on his face. He loved Dan. His energy and encouragement gave my son the confidence he needed being somewhat impaired. Dan’s passion for music and his devotion to his students is unparalleled. I highly recommend Dan if you are looking for a remarkable guitar teacher.” – Dori L. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“My 16 year old son Frankie has been taking guitar lessons from Dan for almost 6 months now – and he loves every minute of it. Frankie has found a friend and mentor in Dan and has learned so much. My son had no prior experience and Dan was able to teach him to read music and play complete songs. Frankie has a great deal of respect for Dan and his talent. I would highly recommend Dan to anyone considering taking lessons!” -Kathy M. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I have been taking lessons for a few months now, and I am very happy with the direction Dan has taken me. He is an encyclopedia of tips, tricks, and music theory. Dan is available outside of lesson hours for any questions you may have, and is willing to work with you. I would highly recommend taking lessons with Dan, as he is an ideal professional.”
– David B. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Dan is great. I learned more in my first day then I learned in a month with my former vocal coach. Dan has helped me gain more confidence in my singing and he really helps you find your true voice. His way of teaching and connecting with his students is amazing!! He is passionate about music and helping his students become successful musicians. If I could give him 10 stars I would.” – Isobela C. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I’ve been taking voice lessons from Dan for about 3 months now. As a member of a band my vocals were weak and untrained. I didn’t have a clue how voice worked, or my range. I didn’t understand anything about the mechanics of the voice or the difference of the singing voice to speaking. I knew nothing of the difference of diction from speaking and singing. Dan is working with me in all these things and more. My vocal range and power is increasing with less effort and no strain to my vocal cords. I’m working on background (harmony) and lead vocals. For me Dan is what I was looking for, his is modern approach that works with what I do pop rock.” – Steve D. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“My teenage son has been working with Dan on the electric guitar for about 4 months and the progress we’ve seen and heard has been amazing. He’s having a great time, really looks forward to every lesson and practices the things Dan instructs him to at home every week. He’s also been flexible with our schedule when we’ve needed to be. We and our son would highly recommend Dan to anyone.” – Gary A. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I have been taking voice lessons with Dan since spring of 2019. Dan is a terrific instructor who has really helped me bring out abilities I didn’t know I had. He has done a great job at guiding me through the specifics of technique as well as articulation. He’s very honest and constructive. I recommend Dan for any guitarist or vocalist looking to take their skills to the next level.” – Matt S. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Dan gives my 15 yo son guitar lessons. He is professional, courteous and kind. Great teacher! He really understands how to interact with my teenager and motivate him. I can’t say enough good things about the experience as it is truly amazing! – Chris R. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Dan’s performing experience makes the skills he teaches practical. He has also been very flexible to my work schedule. Dan makes each lesson fun and I always leave with skills I can implement into my playing and singing right away.” – Dylan P. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Dan is an excellent guitar teacher! He listened to what my goals were and worked out a custom lesson plan. I drastically improve each week I go, and I feel more confident as a guitarist from when I first started. I can’t wait until the next lesson!” – Rich B. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I started taking guitar lessons with Dan about two months ago. With no experience prior to these lessons, Dan has made it easy and fun to start a somewhat arduous task of learning an instrument. He finds the mistakes or trouble I’m having easily and is able to fix it on the spot. He is also willing to work with the kind of music I want to play vs. the kind of music a beginner should be playing. I picked my first song to learn this week. Highly recommend Dan for any level of guitar instruction.” – Carly C. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
